Genealogy: Privacy

The privacy of living individuals is important to me. While I'm eager to make all of my data available, especially to future generations; I will do what I can to protect the privacy of living individuals. Family Tree Maker has a privacy option which I invoke before publishing data to the web -- and the GED-GEN software I use takes further measures. In some cases, individuals will be marked with initials instead of full names. In others, they will labelled with the flag "Private".

Unfortunately the privitization features on my software tends to "privatize" information on deceased ancestors if I haven't filled in the date of death -- or at least provided an estimate. I am currently working to correct this.
