According to "Spencer Family Notes" A.M.M.L. 1937 posted (handwritten) in the Spencer Folder at the North Kingstown Free Library, they lived in Provience in 1740 but soon moved to East Greenwhich where he lived until his death." I'm not certain of the spelling of W. Spencer's name -- it might be "Weltluan" or "welthian".
