Notes:
There's a web page at http://www.medefesser.com/gen/nti/nti01922.html which places Daniel Moomaw's birth in Virginia. The 1880 census has him born in Indiana, but the 1900 and 1910 census records have him born in Virginia. According to the same web page, he moved to Grant County, Indiana around 1850, and then in 1856 to Freemont County, Iowa. He served along with his brothers Mark F. and John F. in Company A, 4th Battalion of Iowa's Southern Border Brigade.

There is apparently an "1881 History of Freemont County" which mentions Daniel Moomaw but I haven't seen the book.
