Notes:
In 1870 Austin and Athniel were farming next to each other in Green Township, Nodaway, Missouri
and close to the same age so I'm assuming they were brothers.

The document at http://www.rootsweb.com/~monodawa/earlyhist/greentwp.htm
mentions Austin's name as having settled in the town between 1851 and 1860. He probably would have been in his early 20's at the time.

On the 1870 Census is a 77-year old "Nancy Stitt" -- I'm assuming she was Nancy Wilson Stitt, the grandmother of Austin and Athniel.

Austin served in the 48 Missouri Infantry (Union) during the Civil War and was discharged as a sergeant.
