Nancy Anne WILSON:

Notes:
"Nancy Stitt" is listed on the 1870 Census for the Green Township, Nodaway County, Missouri living with Austin Stitt. Austin is living next to Athniel; so I believe Austin and Athniel are Nancy's grandsons. Green is located in the northwestern part of Missouri just north of St. Joseph -- see http://www.rootsweb.com/~monodawa/earlyhist/greentwp.htm.

"Nancy Stitt" is also on the 1880 Census living with her son, Obediah. Boone, Bates County, Missouri.

Nancy Wilson-Stitt's obituary (from the Bates County Record, February 20, 1892, pg. 3, column 3) reads: "Nancy Stitt, the oldest woman in Bates County, died at her home in the northwestern part of the county on February 9, 1892. The deceased was born near Morgantown, West Virginia, April 13th, 1792. In 1811 she with her parents emigrated to Dayton, Ohio. After some years removed to Indiana, where they remained several years then removed westward locating in Cedar county, Missouri. In 1862 she went to Lawrence, Kansas, to live with her eldest son O. W. Stitt and removed with him to Bates county, Missouri in 1871. In 1889 the son died, and under the provision of his will, she was cared for until her death, which occured on the date above mentioned, having lived 98 years, 9 months, and 26 days. She was a faithful member of the Christian Church for over half a century remaining unusually healthy and active until a few days prior to her death when she was suddenly taken sick with lagrippe and passed to the realms of the blest. "Blessed are they that die in the Lord.""

According to a note from Leatha Dieckmann, "When Nancy was in Cedar Co., Missouri, she was in [the] John W. Powell home. His wife was Clementine. So the 1860 census says. Don't know who the Powell were."

She is buried in the West Point Cemetary, Bates County, Missouri.
