Notes:
On the 1860 Census he is listed by initials "OW Stitt"

From http://skyways.lib.ks.us/genweb/civilwar/hines.html

Obadiah Wilson Stitt, was my g.g.grandfather. He was born in 1815 in Hamilton Co. Ohio. His parents were from Virginia, and two years after their marriage, they migrated to Ohio with her parents and their other children. At the age of 22 he was married to Miss Malinda Fallis. They had one son in Hamilton Co. Indiana, and she died shortly after. He then married in 1843 his first cousin Sarah Ann Wilson. They with their children lived in Noblesville, Indiana until 1850. We next find them in Mahaska Co. Iowa where 4 children were born and only one lived. Then to Page Co. Iowa where he purchased a store.

In 1856 he was located in Nodaway Co. Mo,and pre-empted a claim of 490 acres. He lived there until April 9, 1860, when he went to Lawrence, Kansas and purchased a farm in that locality, and lived there until the fall of 1870.(History of Nodaway Co. MO.)

I believe he might be buried in the Scott Cemetary, Bates County, Missouri -- see http://tinyurl.com/yfl9r7 (Ancestry.com). His Wife is buried there as well, listed as "Sarah A. Stitt"
The entry reads:

Name: Obadiah W. Stitt
Death Date: 23 Jan 1888
Age: 73 yr., 3 mo., 16 da.
Cemetery: Scott

Name: Sarah A. Stitt
his wife
Cemetery: Scott

There is a 1930 Map of Bates County (from a Plat Book) at
http://tinyurl.com/yhsfzy . The cemetary could be on the property of an ancestor of Roy Scott listed in the East boone Township -- see http://tinyurl.com/ymx8yg .

A note qualifies the above -- the author of the following web page, Patricia Hall, says that the listing of Scott Cemetary is incorrect -- the Stitts here are buried in the West Point Cemetary, Merwin, Bates County, Missouri.
See http://archiver.rootsweb.com/th/read/MOBATES/2001-10/1002996241 . Also see http://www.rootsweb.com/~mobates/misc/deaths.html .

In http://archiver.rootsweb.com/th/read/STITT/1997-12/0882296249 the author states that Obadiah left a will leaving is land in Page County, Iowa to his son William Wilson STIT. The same document says that Austin STITT is the son of Obediah by his first wife Lucinda Fallis. Austin STITT's biography states that his father pre-empted a claim from the government for land in Burlington Junction, Nodaway County, MO. In Bates county where he died, he owned 1500 acres of land.

Lucinda FALLIS:

Notes:
There was a Leroy S. Fallis who was in the 8th Cavalry Regiment, Indiana Unit Company I during the Civil War. He enlisted 01 September 1862, got a commendation for distinguished service, and was promoted to Full Quartermaster Sergeant. He mustered out 08 June 1865. I don't have a connection yet, though, between Leroy S. and Lucinda Fallis.
