Notes:
According to a note in the Spencer file of the North Kingstown Free Library, the justice of the marriage ceremony was John Veach.
In "("Michael Spencer, B. 1" Violet E. Kettelle Genealogical Collection, Box 5, Folder 4)", Violet Kettelle writes that the John and Susannah Spencer homestead went to Son Michael. When he was 21, he gave the hime with the homestead farm of 90-100 acres to his youngest brother Peleg. This is the homestead for which I have photographs of the house that now sits there (Tim Fredrick, 2005). Peleg then gave the homestead to his son Jeremiah. "Connected with Peleg's homestead was an old grist mill. Peleg's son, William was to have half interest in the mill in his lifetime when apparently it was to go entirely to Jeremiah's family. This mill was near the old Quaker burying ground (Cedar Ave.) and was later known as the Ephrain Spencer mill. The old house near it northward was the Ephrain Spencer House. John Spencer's and wife Susannah's graves were near an old bar in the late 1800's near Payne's Pond. 'Old Stuke' Matteson had plowered over their graves years before for a garden. This now is on the farmer 'old Riley place on Kenyon Ave. (early 1900's) next to the recent Gammon's property."
