According to http://ftp.rootsweb.com/pub/usgenweb/ri/all_ri/spencer.txt , John GREENE was the son of surgeon John Greene of Warwick. He was major of the Militia and Deputy Governor of the Colony of Rhode Island.

("In Laws", Box 5, Folder 12, Violet E Kettelle Genelaogical Collection CS69.K48 2002, April 2002): Violet Kettelle writes "He m. Audrey Greene b. 12-27-1767, and died 4-17-1733, daug. of John-2 Greene and Anne (Almy of Wm.). They had two sons, Richard and William.
