Additional Information

Zachariah BROWN:
Name: BROWN 7
Born: Maryland 8

Notes:
Also on the 1900 Census for Hamlin, Brown County Kansus -- listed as "Jack Brown" but with the same birthday and daughters living at his residence (perhaps to take care of him). He is listed on this census as a Widower.

Newspaper Obit (not sure which paper):

BROWN.
Zachariah Brown was born in Carrol (sic) county, Maryland, May 17, 1825 and died at Reserve, Kans., Oct. 13, 1900. He was married in 1848 to Lucy M. Hyatt who preceeded him to the Better Land almost 14 years ago. Brother Brown was the father of 11 children, nine of whom, seven girls and two boys, still survive him. All of the children are married excepting the two youngest, Asa and Grace. In 1864 Mr. Brown moved with his family to near Warrensburg, Mo., and in the spring of 1871 came to Kansas soon after settling on his farm in Brown county, four miles east of Reserve, where he lived until two years ago, when he rented the place and moved to Reserve where he was living at the time of his death. All of the children were at the funeral excepting Mrs. Annie Cramer, of Chicago and Mrs. Maud Troxel, of Beatrice, Neb. The former was prevented by ill health and the latter had gone to Pennsylvania on a visit to her husband's relatives. Brother Brown had been a member of the Christian church for 40 years or more. He was ordained an elder of the church at Old Padonia and served in that capacity ever since. He was constant in his attendance on the services. among the large congregation, no face was more familiar than his and he will be greatly missed by the Brotherhood. The funeral services were conducted by Brother Moore, of the Christian church, assisted by Brother Wark, of the M. E. church. The text of the short discourse were the beautiful words of Rev. 13-14 and seemed most appropriate: "Blessed are the dead which die in the Lord form henceforth: Yes, saith the Spirit, that may rest from their labors and their works do follow them."

From Gary DAUD's timeline: "1865 Zachariah and Lucinda Brown move their family to Warrensburg, MO."

From Gary DAUD's timeline: "Spring of 1871 Zachariah and Lucinda Brown move to their family to the Reserve, KS farm."

Lucinda Mariah HYATT:
Name: Lucinda M. BROWN 13
Name: HYATT 14
Name: Lucinda M. BROWN 15

Notes:
From newspaper article (date, paper unknown) -- "MRS. LUCINDA M. BROWN. Mrs Lucinda M. Brown, wife of Z. Brown, was born in Hyattsville, Montgomery County, Maryland, Oct 21, 1829, and died at her home in Brown county, Kan., Dec. 23, 1886. She was married to Bro. Brown in 1848. Was the mother of eleven children, nine of whom are living. She was consistent Christian for about 40 years. She was a true wife and loving mother. Her suffering was great for many months, but she bore it with true Christian resignation. Her funeral sermon was preached by the writer Christmas day at 11 o'clock. A large concourse of friends followed her remains to the grave. "She rests from her labors and her works do follow her." --James McGuire

Discrepancy: The obit lists her birth as Oct 21, 1829 but a couple of on-line family trees and my brother-in-law Gary Daud's notes all mention the birthday October 22, 1830.

(02) Mary Anne BROWN:

Notes:
From Gary DAUD's timeline: "November 1918 Mary Ann Brown died."
