Genealogy: Disclaimers

The pages contained herein should be considered secondary sources. Many are the results of loosly-founded assumptions or interpretations on my part. For example, while I believe I am related to the SPENCER Immigrant Michael SPENCER of the 4 Immigrant SPENCER Brothers (and sister), I haven't seen primary sources to describe the ancestry of Christopher SPENCER of Cazenovia, NY -- so I can't claim with 100% certainty that John Spencer of East Greenwich, or his father Michael Spencer are my ancestors. I haven't found contrary evidence either -- but if you are doing research, I hope my notes and references are helpful, but treat them with appropriate scientific skepticism. And find original sources when possible...

My documentation is primarily footnotes provided by Family Tree Maker. The references are imperfect in that it may lead you to a census record and list "1930 United States Federal Census". But it tends not provide the page within the census (and city, state, county) that you would need to actually look up the information. I'm working to see if I can improve on the references listed in the footnotes at the bottom of the family group sheets.
